Tirtha means holly Water, Empul means spring water. Tirtha Empul temple means where in the temple there are holly springs water and its use for sanctification by Hindu people. The temple located in Manukaya Village, Tampaksiring Gianyar, it is about 700 meters from above sea level and 39 km from Denpasar. The temple is dedicated for Indra God which is Hindu people believes as the God of war and rain. Base on inscription explanatin which is kept in one of the temple in Manukaya village, Tirtha Empul Temple was built before year 960.
